ASRock’s Intel Arc A380 is now officially unveiled as the company has officially unveiled its version of the Arc Alchemist graphics card. The entry-level card has similar specs to the previously released Gunnir Photon 6GB OC GPU, but features a single fan and low-profile ITX shroud.
I observe Momomo_us, intel arc a380 Challenger complements the company’s red team exclusivity to some extent, as ASRock traditionally makes AMD GPUs. Latest Arc Alchemist custom graphics card released with 6GB 96-bit GDDR6 VRAM, PCI Express 4.0 support, 3x DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0b port.
While the Arc GPUs previously introduced by Intel can support HDMI 2.1 if they have a “proton converter”, it seems that ASRock has decided not to include it. Naturally, that means the port’s output is limited to 4K 60Hz, which is arguably reasonable given the A380’s entry-level status.
Speaking of which, the Intel Arc A380 is entry-level in terms of price and features as it is currently available for 299 yuan (about $192) from Chinese retailers like JD.
Like the Gunnir Photon, the ASRock A380 Challenger has an 8-pin connector, and the company recommends using a gaming PC with a 500W power supply. That might seem excessive, especially with Intel’s official TDP of 75. W, but overclocking the A380 can apparently increase frame rates in games like Doom Eternal, so it’s probably worth stocking up on juice.
As you may have guessed, ASRock Intel A380 GPU is exclusively available in China. No word yet on whether this card will make its way overseas, but even gaming laptop options are still listed as “coming soon” at retailers like Best Buy. There’s even reason to believe that future plans for Arc GPUs will be cancelled, so we may not end up with the third horse in the graphics card race.
