Multiversus has finally earned its Steam Deck accolade, as Warner Bros.’ fighting game franchise is now labeled “playable” on Valve’s store. While it appears the Smash Bros-inspired fighter won’t be getting Verified status for now, his new compatibility status should help more players beat Batman on the go.
The Multiversus Steam Deck Playable tag is now on the right of the game’s Steam page, and clicking “learn more” gives you an idea of Valve’s verdict. According to the gaming PC giant, gamers may need to manually access the handheld’s on-screen keyboard while gaming, a caveat that currently prevents it from getting “Checked” status.
To immerse yourself in the fantasy world of Multiversus, you need to sign in to your WB Games account. The login page contains a QR code, which means you don’t have to enter your details directly into the Steam Deck. However, if you decide to go all out, you may need to press the Steam button and X simultaneously to bring up the on-screen keyboard. You can also connect a gaming keyboard using the Steam Deck Dock, but that may defeat the purpose of portability.
It’s worth noting that Multiversus works very well on the Steam Deck, and its new Playable tag is more like Valve, just stating the obvious. Also, it’s still early days for Ridiculous Movies and TV, so there’s a chance it could end up on Valve’s verified list. It doesn’t really matter, but if you just want to play games rated “excellent on deck”, it will help add some confidence to your experience.
In addition to being compatible with the Steam Deck, the official release date of Multiversus has been pushed back indefinitely and you’ll have to wait a bit for new tier list characters like Morty (from Rick and Morty). If you’re looking forward to the start of the first season, it’s going to be a bit disappointing, but it’s still the closest thing to Smash Bros on PC. You can even play Multiversus with a Gamecube controller, getting you even closer to Nintendo’s iconic combination.
