This was one of the new features of the new generation of Playstation: accolades, in English. This referred to online games where individual players could reward others with a “badge” for things like advice or good behavior. However, Sony has been canceling the feature since the fall.
The company announced this on its blog. The purpose of this feature was to improve the online gaming environment as it would motivate players to get good grades and therefore not behave in a vulgar or inappropriate way. At least that’s how it was on paper. Reality was different.
“The amount of use of this feature has not met our expectations, so we are redirecting our efforts. However, we encourage the (gaming) community to continue to send positive messages to each other,” the official statement reads. Exactly when the feature will disappear in the fall is still unclear.
The reward was anonymous and could not be sent to your friends. It was also only possible to award one bounty per match. All this was supposed to improve the atmosphere in online games. In particular, these were the “Helpful”, “Friendly”, “Good Partner” and “Leader” badges. But the function was not available in all online titles, and apart from the “badge” itself, the player did not receive anything else.
On the other hand, last week Sony announced some news. These include support for 1440p and lists to help you better organize games in your library.
