Black Panther’s Batman Gotham Knights Prequel Has Free DLC

DC Comics and Warner Bros have announced a Gotham Knights prequel comic for release in October, telling Batman’s final story before his apparent death in the upcoming superhero game. He’s a Black Panther writer currently working at Bethesda’s Redfall, and collectors will be able to get their hands on free DLC, including a fancy batbike.

Batman: Gotham Knights – Gilded City was confirmed by the publisher during SDCC after Batman artist Greg Capullo, who does the covers for the six-issue monthly series, teased earlier this year. Artist Harley Quinn Abel and writer Evan Narcisse are the main creative team behind the prequel.

In addition to being a writer for Kotaku, Narcissus has written for Black Panther several times, including the Rise of the Black Panther comic series and the well-received Marvel’s Avengers: War for Wakanda expansion. He served as a narrative design consultant on the upcoming PC movie Spider-Man: Miles Morales and is currently working on Arkane’s co-op vampire game Redfall.

Story-wise, The Gilded City goes into great detail about Batman’s latest case, so the prequel will likely lead into the events of Gotham Knights. In it, Batman and his allies investigate a zombie-like virus that has been released in Gotham City with apparent ties to another vigilante named Runaway who protected Gotham City in the 19th century, related to the game’s antagonists, the Court of Justice. Owls and their immortal minions. , the Claws, I will eat my nearest Batman shirt.

And yes, there will also be free DLC. As with the Fortnite comics, each of the six releases will include codes to unlock exclusive content in Gotham Knights. The first set, releasing alongside Gotham Knights just in time for Halloween, contains code for the white BOSO22 Batcycle skin. Collect all six builds and you’ll unlock the seventh DLC item, which is currently secret.

In other SDCC Gotham Knights news, Batman’s son Damian Wayne and Harley Quinn may play a role in the game’s events, but the Joker does not.
