According to the Giant Bomb server, v electronic arts work on a single-player game based on a comic book hero Black Panther. Journalist Jeff Grubb claims that we learn at the very beginning of the game that Black Panther has died, which is similar to the upcoming Gotham Knights and, eventually, the upcoming Black Panther: Hail Wakanda movie. “The player is going to be the next Black Panther, and that seems to be the main theme of the game,” adds Grubb.
A newly founded studio based in Seattle is reportedly working on the game, which is likely the intended designation for Black Panther as Project Rainier, and Rainier is the name of a local mountain. The studio must lead Kevin Stevens, which EA announced in April. Stevens previously headed Monolith Productions, where he worked on both parts of Middle-earth. His new team is going to focus on open-world action-adventure.
“The action-adventure is (…) an extremely important genre,” said an EA vice president. Samantha Ryan, who previously met Stevens at Monolith, “The players and fans of these games are very passionate and it’s also one of my favorite genres. We recently had success with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and would like to entertain more fans of the genre.”
We don’t know anything about Black Panther yet, and this is still unconfirmed information. Either way, Marvel doesn’t seem to stop licensing AAA products. There are games in development Marvel Midnight Suns, Spiderman 2 by Marvel, Wolverine Marvel or as yet untitled title from Skydance New Media producer Amy Hennig.
