Square Enix has announced that its “series” will be released. Final Fantasy XIncluding Final Fantasy X-2 and remasters, exceeded quota 20.8 million copies It is distributed and sold digitally all over the world.

As reported by Gematsu, the data shared by the Japanese company has been updated to September 2021, so the total numbers may be slightly higher today. Sales of the original PS2 Final Fantasy X, released in Europe in May 2002, followed by the 2004 sequel Final Fantasy X-2 and Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster is a collection that includes remastered versions of two games that have reached almost every platform on the market over the years.

For comparison, Square Enix announced in October 2013 that the Final Fantasy X series had surpassed 14 million copies sold. The figure goes back a few months before the remastered editions were released, and thus around 6.8 million more copies have been placed since then.

The numbers are undoubtedly impressive and prove once again that this is one of the most loved and admired games by the fans of the Square Enix franchise, if necessary. Of course, we’re mainly referring to Final Fantasy X and not its ill-fated sequel.

Just for comparison, last May Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy 15 had passed the milestone of 10 million copies sold.
