Morbius, the 2022 blockbuster, has been waiting a long time for a full game. It can be a horror game or an open-world RPG where you clean up low-cost rogue neighborhoods and fight your way to a final showdown with Matt Smith dancing shirtless. It could even spawn its own genre, MMMORPG, where the extra “M” stands for “Morbin”.
But instead, we have something much better, a new version of the minesweeper classic for Windows, dedicated to Marvel’s vampire disaster, where the goal is to maintain a perfect and totally deserved 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Available for free, Morbsweeper, from an independent developer uneven touchit comes with stunning 16-bit visuals, improved “Morb Mode” and unlockable bonuses that could win you an Oscar or bring Morbius back to the movies for the third time.
“How fast can you MORB?” the game is screaming at you, displaying crazy GIFs of the aforementioned Matt Smith topless along with banners like “CHAD” and “I’M ON RED.” Like its accompanying film, it’s a dizzying, sensory, and unnerving experience destined to spawn a host of memes.
The principle is simple. Just like in classic Minesweeper, you have to clear the grid and find the safe squares, only now the mines are the hallmark, the bad eyesight green panels are from Rotten Tomatoes, and the safe spots are the opposite, the ones that have good eyesight are red. Keep your score as high as possible and try to get rewards.
