Hoyoverse has announced the date for the first Zenless Zone Zero beta, and gamers who want to get their hands on publisher Genshin Impact’s next anime game will have the opportunity to do so in August.

A futuristic urban post-apocalyptic RPG was announced in May by Hoyoverse and sees players take on the role of a character called a “proxy” tasked with investigating dangerous supernatural rifts known as “holes” in the streets of New Eridu.

Now, Hoyoverse has announced that the first “Fit Test” of Zenless Zone Zero is about to start. August 5 at 2:00 GMT/3:00 BST/10:00 CST – for those in America, this equates to August 4 at 7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. ET. Players wishing to register can do so by navigating to the home page of the main game website and clicking the “Sign Up” banner in the upper right corner.

If you want to participate, you’ll need to log in with a Hoyoverse account (which you already have if you’ve played Genshin Impact before) and complete a survey for a chance to be selected. Registration for this first fit test is open until July 27 at 8:59 am PST / 11:59 am ET, 4:59 pm PT / 11:59 pm CST.

The closed beta is available for PC and iOS and all data and progress will be deleted once the test is complete. Hoyoverse stresses that this first configuration test will be “small” and that the product is still in the early stages of development. However, it does give players a chance to really get to know the upcoming game.
