The Intel Core i5 13600K might not be the most powerful Raptor Lake CPU, but it could be the best gaming CPU for those who don’t need the extra performance that higher-end i7 and i9 models provide. However, new benchmarks show that it can be surprisingly capable for a mid-range chip, offering substantial advantages over its 12th-gen counterpart.

After getting our hands on an Intel Core i5 13600K engineering sample, hardware specialist ECSM_Official has since run Cinebench R23 and CPU-Z CPU benchmarks. The results look very promising, especially since this chip doesn’t have all the optimizations found in a retail processor.

In the CPU-Z and Cinebench multi-core tests, the Intel Core i5 13600K lagged behind its predecessor with scores of 10,031 (+79%) and 24,420 (+40%) respectively, likely due to its slower speeds. , its highest clock and its best performance. . number of streams (via Videocardz). Oddly enough, the chip actually performed worse in single-core tests, but that could be a sign that it’s an engineering feat.

While we have to take these results with a grain of salt, it appears that Intel’s Raptor Lake CPUs may offer a significant performance boost over their 12th-gen counterparts. Whether that will be enough to take on AMD’s Ryzen 7000 remains to be seen, but we won’t have to wait long to find out as both companies are rumored to launch their next-gen chips later this year.
