On Thursday, July 14, alpha testing of the upcoming data disc for the iconic World of Warcraft started. The ninth expansion in the series is called Dragonflight and will take us on adventures in new zones on the Dragon Isles. Over time, interested veterans, journalists and other players will be invited to test. Feedback is extremely important to developers, and both alpha and beta testing are an essential part of development.

There is currently only one zone available, Azure Span, which is one of the more recent Dragonflight data disk locations. So there is no starting zone yet. Testers will also get to know the dragon riding system – i.e. riding/flying dragons – which is one of the main attractions of the new expansion. You can also try out the new Draktir race and its associated profession, the Spellcaster. Characters start at level 65 and reach a maximum level of 68 (at release, the highest level ends at level 70). The new user interface can be tested and previewed. There was also a talent adjustment. This currently applies to the following professions: Death Knight, Druid, Hunter, Priest and Rogue. Fans of alchemy and blacksmithing can look forward to changed professions in the current version of the alpha test. Developers want to slowly dose test content so they can properly focus on feedback. Initial reviews are mostly positive. Have you received an invitation to test? If so, how does this news affect you? We will be glad if you share with us any impressions and experiences.
