There is an ever-growing number of League of Legends live stream talent engaged in streaming and content creation, with many participating organizations competing in the top leagues. A quick look on Twitch shows you LCS analyst Mark ‘MarkZ’ Zimmerman and LCK presenter Max ‘Atlus’ Anderson gushing about Genshin Impact, while you’ll often find NLC streamer and SK Gaming creator Geogia ‘Troubleinc’ Paras on break.
Then there are the co-publishers. Nick ‘LS’ DeCesare, former Cloud9 head coach, T1 producer and LCK host Nick ‘LS’ DeCesare has long been chosen to co-report the Korean Premier League, while former pro Christian ‘IWDominate’ Rivera – a streamer for himself. Cloud9 – more recently synonymous with LPL.
Continuing that trend, 2021 esports analyst and LEC announcer Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont joined UK-based Excel Esports this week, the team he played with for the past two years of the campaign. as a content creator with editing functions. Commenting on the trend when discussing the decision to connect a backup to Excel, Caedrel tells The Loadout that it’s “not rocket science” for talent in the content creation space to find a home.
“Yes, I can be an independent creator sitting here without ‘house’ quotes and a lone editor wondering about the cosmos,” he says, “but I think it makes sense for any creator to join a team. Especially if you have a relationship or connection with them.
After cautiously starting to stream after scrims while playing like a pro, Caedrel, like most streamers, gradually increased his follower count. “Maybe I would have peaked with ten, fifteen viewers in 2019,” she recalls. At the end of 2020, Caedrel multiplied the hours after his retirement and enjoyed bringing various games outside of LoL, especially the social adventure Among Us, to hundreds of viewers.
When Caedrel finally joined the LEC broadcast team last year, he had plenty of time after years of training to perform on Europe’s biggest stage. “When I was a pro, when I wasn’t a coach, I was playing. I slept when I wasn’t playing. I ate when I was not sleeping. When I came to the LEC last year, I have a lot of free time, so of course I was just thinking about streaming a lot.
When you take a break it’s hard to get back to where you once were
Caedrel, who increased her Twitch subscriber count from 40,000 to just over 300,000 last year, according to TwitchTracker, attributes much of that growth to the consistency she’s been able to broadcast since she started. joins the LEC broadcast team. He finds that without consistency, it’s easy for stats to stagnate or even deteriorate.
“The most important thing I learned on Twitch is that when you take a break it’s hard to get back to where you were, I think it doesn’t matter unless you’re very tall “, explains Caedrel. “Look at Asmongold, when a new game comes out, go to the stream, blast 300,000 viewers. Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel is a prime example of one of the biggest streamers on Twitch streaming for just 15 hours straight. Sharpening is therefore very important.
However, Caedrel admits her own schedule hasn’t been very healthy over the past year – a topic she recently discussed with Peter ‘Doublelift’ Peng and LS – a constant threat due to long working hours. . “As an editor, I learned that the burnout was always there,” he says. “And turning on your stream will still suck. And sometimes you’re like ‘shit, I don’t feel anything’ but you just have to get over it.”
Self-proclaimed “workaholic” Caedrel admits she hasn’t been able to manage her double life as effectively as she could. However, the uncertain nature of an ever-changing industry motivates her to try to push herself as far as possible in the short term.
“I think the truth [content creation] it only takes five years at most, so you can recoup that time a bit later,” says Caedrel. “Because I don’t know if I’ll be a streamer in four or five years – I don’t even know what’s going to happen to Twitch or League of Legends – so as long as it’s still fresh I think it’s a no-brainer just to get ahead. That’s the mentality I have.”
Of course, metrics aren’t the only thing that drives Caedrel. Its bustling “Griefingdor” community contains some of the finest modern memeend spirits League of Legends has to offer. Spend some time on Caedrel’s Discord server and you’ll understand what we mean.

This common tendency towards candid content is what attracts Brits who often post memes to their personal Twitter account – many from their personal meme factory, some of them their own creations. This concerted effort, Caedrel says, was born out of their meager resources to produce memes.
[I’m] Like Butterfree in Pokemon when you let Ash go
“I would ask people to help me make memes because last year [Microsoft] Paint,” says Caedrel. “They tried to help me more because I was degenerate and couldn’t draw.” (Since stumbling across an app that could support his creative vision, he reassures us, “If Ash is in Pokémon Butterfree when he releases it, I’m flying.”)
One of the biggest issues with managing an ever-expanding community is the limited number of ways to engage everyone. “The community is great,” says Caedrel, “but it’s hard to collaborate a lot; I wish there was a better way to do this.
While Caedrel talks about Marbles on Stream for collective interaction, Griefingdor wishes he could do more with LoL to spend more time with his residents. “Maybe some kind of big tournament or something on Discord would be a good idea,” he thinks, “but I don’t even know how much of my Discord League is played, so I should probably investigate further. “
With thousands of viewers spamming the Twitch chat, it can be easy for longtime viewers to get lost in the noise. Caedrel is always aware of this and from the start always makes sure that there is a special place for those around her. “I will always remember the OG names,” she says. “As much as I love new frogs – they’re always welcome – I’ll always stand by the OGs and read what they have to say first.”
Now, the organization will definitely want to take advantage of Caedrel’s mix of educational and entertaining content, in addition to Excel. It certainly shows both, as Elden traverses the Ring’s Lands Between as a frogman who shoots a naked bowl between ongoing LCK game streams.
