The next major update to Grand Theft Auto V for GTA Online is due out in a few weeks, and some of the leading pundits are already hinting at some juicy details about what we can expect in multiplayer when the update releases. Rockstar has also extended GTA Online’s weekly Diamond Casino event through July 26, suggesting we could see an update around this time.
In a comment on the GTA forums, a well-known insider mapper shared some juicy little tidbits about the new update, which they say Rockstar simply listed as “DLC 1 2022”. According to reports from him, the update will include 26 new vehicle slots, which means more garage space, though players believe the odd number suggests it could also include something like six hangar slots.
Two new rifles are expected to arrive with the update. The first is listed as a “tactical rifle” and the other, which Alloc8or says he’s not sure of its exact nature, is codenamed “PRCSRIFLE”, implying it could be some kind of precision sniper rifle. Alloc8or also confirms that there are new skydiving activities and says that they will be tied to a new “Skydive Collectible” that players can research.
Perhaps most compelling is that alloc8or says “some other people also hint at activity outside of San Andreas; I’ll leave it to the reader to figure that out.” This, of course, has generated a lot of speculation, although it seems that the most likely candidate would be new activities, or perhaps even free movement around the island of Cayo Perico, apart from the robbery that has been going on there.
As well as expanding on the current weekly event, Rockstar has also doubled the cash and reputation rewards generated by Payphones, making them a very lucrative source of income. A recent Rockstar update also touched on some of the other things coming as part of an update that plans to expand the careers of executives, bikers, gun dealers, and nightclub owners. . It will also add a set of missions in which players are sworn in as IAA field agents to investigate a “promising criminal plot.”
Many other tweaks and quality of life changes are also expected, including a nerf to the Oppressor Mk II, easier access to snacks and armor on the fly, and the ability to run sell missions during an invite-only session. Additionally, Rockstar is increasing in-game cash payouts throughout the game across a wide range of activities.
The GTA 6 release date may still be a speck on the horizon, but it looks like the current iteration of the open-world game will have plenty of action for quite some time. We also provide you with information on the best GTA RP servers if you are looking for something different.
