You won’t spend nearly twenty years developing and supporting a game like World of Warcraft without knowing what drives its player base. It’s usually some kind of exclusive digital loot, and for WoW players, the cream of digital culture is mounts. These coveted cosmetic items are not only useful, but also highly visible status symbols, perfect for hanging around Ironforge or Orgrimmar all day waiting for a raid to start. Collecting mounts is a hobby in itself, however, unlike his 200th run at Icecrown Citadel for Invincible, you don’t have to rely on luck for this new mount, only cash.
In recent years, Blizzard has been encouraging its players to upgrade their subscription six months in advance by offering various exclusive mounts. The last rare steed is the Great Void Swallowed Serpent, a purple golden dragon. It appears to use the same frame and animation set as the mounts from Mists of Pandaria, which were heavily inspired by East Asian folklore, but this time with a Nightborne aesthetic.
In addition to your unique beast, you will receive the Flame Tabard in Burning Crusade Classic for your efforts, previously only available to the lucky ones in the WoW Trading Card Game. As with the previous rewards, if you don’t want to spend six months in WoW, you can always purchase Greatwyrm from the Blizzard Shop for $25, €25, or £19.
Previous six month pack rewards include Wen Luo, the winged ethereal tiger; Sky Sapphire Blazer, Blue Bird; and Lucky Yun, the winged golden bull. The first mount to be offered in this way was The Dreadwake, a personal pirate ship launched in 2018 to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Some playmates are unique for more unusual reasons than an artificial lack of numerical data, such as the invincible and muscular Felguard. You can also check out our rundown of the new Dragon Thieves talent trees here.
