Year 2070 enters the list of must-pass games turn off online support From Ubisoft, but nevertheless it seems developers want to work hard to keep it up and running somehow.
We have seen in the past days that Ubisoft decided to close the servers for about fifteen games released in the past years, in which we found Far Cry 3, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Assassin’s Creed 2, as well as Anno 2070.
While for most of them such a decision is somewhat understandable, some games still continue to have a certain following.
Among them is Anno 2070, so much so that its developers Ubisoft Mainz would have decided to try keeping their games active: “To migrate the game to a new game, we will dedicate some of our development resources to working on upgrades to be applied to online services older than Anno 2070 system,” reads in a communication from the team.
So this seems contrary to the earlier announcement by the parent company and may have started from an autonomous decision of the team taken later with the publisher. In any case, the goal is to “enable online features”. keep running Even after September 1, 2022, when various servers are expected to be disabled.
Not sure yet if the procedure was successful, but at least Ubisoft Mainz’s intention is to save the game online, you can read more in our Anno 2070 review.
