New PlayStation 5 with automatic low latency mode

Console system prefix 5 extended version update 22.01-05.50.00. Today, it should be available worldwide for everyone, and it offers an automatic low latency mode (or ALLM).

– If you are using a TV that supports ALLM (automatic low latency mode), you can adjust the settings for this mode in Settings > Display & Video > Video > ALLM.

– If you set it to “Auto”, the TV will automatically switch to low latency mode during game play.

– If you set it to “Off”, the ALLM mode will not be activated until the VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) output is used.

These new options available on TVs with HDMI 2.1 supportsuch as LG’s OLED range, some Samsung’s QLEDs, and several Sony models.

The ALLM system made its first appearance on PS5 in the April update, which also added VRR. Unfortunately, the way this feature was implemented meant that it was active all the time. Especially on Sony TVs, enabling ALLM locks out some picture settings. This all-or-nothing approach has ruined image quality for many.

Now ALLM is not only possible switch offbut also allow the console to automatically enable low latency.

Like previous updates, this one too improves system performance. Sony was not in more detail.
