Evan ‘Cented’ Barron has been making a name for himself on the global Fortnite stage for quite some time, notching up six FNCS Finals in a short span of time. But the 19-year-old made headlines this week for all the wrong reasons, and has since ‘split’ with the FaZe Clan after he was caught using racist comments during a live broadcast.
Cented, which had been warned of toxicity by Epic Games in the past, came under fire when it joined a player’s Discord unaware of their broadcast and greeted them with a racist remark. more video of the momentThe incident, which allegedly took place six months ago, has since gone viral and FaZe Clan has taken action.
“FaZe is constantly evolving and we expect our members to do the same” FaZe Clan’s statement is as follows:† “Cented has been permanently removed from FaZe for using hate speech. We, and the gaming community at large, can no longer tolerate discriminatory language.”
Cented confirmed his departure from the organization and issued an apology to Twitlonger in typical esports fashion, saying it was “me and just me.”
“Sorry,” he said. I’m sorry to be exposed but I’m sorry because I should have known better. I can’t hide behind my age or my ignorance for dropping such a word in my vocabulary. It shouldn’t be part of my vocabulary. As an adult, I should know better. All the information was in front of me to know it better and yet I chose to misbehave. I’m sorry about that.”

He goes on to say that he believed he had given his ego the upper hand and lost himself at the height of his success, many agree.
The Canadian isn’t offering his next move, but he’ll have to prove to himself and the competitive community that he’s changed for the better if he wants to compete in the future.
