PlayStation usually holds a pretty tight rein when it comes to new tech, but it looks like the ship with PSVR2 has leaked in recent weeks. First we heard that the PSVR 2 might not be backwards compatible, then we heard that it might come out with a series of around 20 PSVR 2 games and now we heard that it will be repeated on the first headset and users will have the option to change this. This might not sound like big news, but for long-term PSVR users, it is. The first headset had a major flaw that would leave the USB-C cable hidden around the headset. vulnerable to damage† Because the cable is hardwired, users cannot replace the wire, leaving them with a reasonably priced ornament.
Now, according to Bryan Paul’s PSVR2 without parole resources, Sony has learned its lessons and will be donning the new interchangeable headset. The cable apparently plugs directly into the headset into its own port, which is displayed above the viewfinder.

If true, that would be a huge improvement for PSVR fans, especially since it shows Sony is listening to community feedback. While there’s still a lot to discover about the second-gen headset, it’s probably one of the best things they can do to secure the future of PSVR 2 in a competitive market.
