Get the latest round of original Assassin’s Creed multiplayer as it’s due to retire in September 2022. Ubisoft confirms that it will end online support for many of its older games, including many of its classic Assassin’s Creed games, Far Cry 3 and the latest Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell Games: cutting off access to multiplayer and even DLC.
Ubisoft today released a list of its classic games that it plans to end support for in September 2022, and PCs have been hit particularly hard. The “Decommissioning of online services” naturally includes multiplayer, so all active servers will be removed. The most frustrating thing, however, is that many PC games will remove the “install and access” DLC, which the console versions do not.
While the Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed III remasters aren’t affected, the Ezio Trilogy remasters aren’t currently available on PC, so that’s a bit frustrating. It’s also sad to see the last games in the Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia series, well the last games until the release of the long-awaited new Splinter Cell game and the Prince of Persia remake.
Here is a list of Ubisoft games that have had online support disabled, including multiplayer, online features, and DLC access.
- Year 2070
- assassin’s creed 2
- assassin’s creed brotherhood
- Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD
- Assassin’s Creed III (original version)
- San Francisco Driver
- Far Cry 3 (original version)
- Prince of Persia the forgotten sands
- silent hunter 5
- space addicts
- Splinter Cell Blacklist
Old PC games never die, but they can be tolerated from time to time.
