The latest Dota 2 updates are bad news for the Windranger Network. The updates change the way Windranger’s auto-targeting logic works so that it breaks when an enemy hero casts illusions, forcing Windranger to retarget him during his ultimate in the popular MOBA game.
The first patch, released on June 28, introduced the change described above. When the illusions appeared, Windranger’s auto-fire focus was disabled and Windranger had to retarget him because of his ability to target the enemy he was using his ult against again.
This patch caused some consternation among core Windranger users on the Dota 2 subreddit, but was followed by a minor change in a patch released on June 29. takes precedence over target selection in all cases, even when creating illusions.”
The June 29 patch also made the following change: “During Focus Fire Windranger, after pausing/holding, it is possible to aim at a different target than the fired target if you click directly on it.”
This means that Windranger players will need to be especially careful when using their ults against illusion-using heroes like Phantom Lancer, and the Manta-style armor will also be a potential problem for their ult.
