Zombie MMO The Day Before doesn’t pay some of its employees it sees as ‘volunteers’
The Fntastic website talks about paid full-time developers and part-time professionals with bonuses.
If you like post-apocalyptic open-world MMOs, you’ve probably noticed The Day Before. Developed by Fntastic, the game managed to grab our attention with a zombie survival premise, and eventually made us fall in love with a gameplay that teaches different challenges that go beyond mere warfare against the undead.
Anyone can volunteer part time and get great rewards and free codesWonderfulHowever, part of this project is being developed by workers who participate in the game under the name of ‘volunteers’ without paying any fee. This was reported by Well Played’s editor-in-chief Zach Jackson after he landed on the Fntastic website, where it read that the work was “full-time volunteers” receiving a salary and “part-time volunteers” receiving several bonuses.
“Anyone can volunteer part-time to contribute to the Fntastic community and receive awesome rewards, participation certificates, and free codes,” the developer’s website says. “Part-time volunteering at Fantastic includes activities ranging from translation to being a community moderator. Part-time volunteers can also offer unique skills to improve our projects or create new custom features.”
As it turns out, “full-time volunteers” are limited and currently the developer doesn’t want to fill any more positions. Fntastic, on the other hand, conveys this ideology with a video explaining that “whatever you do in life, you do it willingly or unwillingly”. “If you volunteer, it will be heaven. If you do it unwillingly, it will be hell. Fntastic’s culture is based on the idea of volunteering. To volunteer means to volunteer to work for a common cause.”
The Day Before, whose predecessor reminds us of The Last of Us, is scheduled to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series on March 1, 2023. There are still a few months to enter the post-apocalyptic universe, but we’ve already compiled a compilation with all the highlights of the delivery, as you can see in a video below.
