Although the Polish studio 11 bit has been around for a long time, it was the 2014 game This War of Mine that made the team famous all over the world. In addition, this success was followed by another hit – the survival strategy Frostpunk. But back to the first mentioned game, which is now more relevant than ever. The action takes place during the war, which we observe from the point of view of civilians. Of course, you’re just trying to survive, but it’s not easy at all, and you’ll face countless moral choices as the game progresses.
Due to the real-world resemblance that the title suggests, it has already been included in the recommended reading in Polish schools in 2020. But now we find out that things went even further. This War of Mine has been added to the curriculum, Poland’s education ministry said on Monday.
Thus, the game is available free of charge for students, they can find it on the website of the Polish government. Of course, it is only available in Polish, but otherwise it should be a DRM-free version with no regional restrictions. However, besides the name itself, other educational materials were produced in collaboration with 11bit, including basic instructions and a detailed essay about the game itself.
This War of Mine is designed to teach ethics and social studies. In particular, it is recommended to discuss the title along with a collection of stories known in the world as “Here for Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen” by the Polish writer and journalist Tadeusz Borowski, who passed through the Auschwitz concentration camp. .
🎮 The first game in the history of Polish education was found among the proposals of school lectures! “This War of Mine” reveals knowledge and stretches the limits of imagination in an engaging way. Also on vacation.
