As promised, Studio Asobo finally announced the release date for A Plague Tale: Requiem during a special demo that provided an extended look at the stealth game’s action-packed segments. A Plague Tale: Requiem will be released on October 18 and will include ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS support on PC. In addition to seeing Requiem’s story and battles during the demo, we also see Hugo use his rat powers to send swarms of rodents at his enemies and help him avoid fights as much as possible.

A Plague Tale: Requiem once again follows Hugo and Amicia, only this time they have emerged from the slums and sewers of the original game and crossed the ocean to new lands to settle. Hugo needs protection again and Amicia takes care of her, although with some reluctance, since she doesn’t like killing people very much. A mysterious curse strikes Hugo and Amicia desperately searches for a way to break it.

The journey takes them across the Mediterranean, and though state troops are after them again (knights tend to get a little sarcastic if you kill one of their comrades), not every brother they meet wants to harm them.

The gameplay footage that Asobo showed during the presentation involved brothers in the city, after a benevolent soul helped them escape their pursuers and into the catacombs in an abandoned quarry. Hugo’s curse allows him to communicate with rats by borrowing their senses to follow the scent of blood, meaning he can detect nearby soldiers even if they are hiding.

That’s good news for Amicia, who can easily kill an unsuspecting soldier without drawing anyone’s attention, or not if you want to be a little louder and more aggressive.

Amicia and Hugo discuss the number of lives Amicia has taken, with Amicia even commenting that she probably didn’t need to kill as many soldiers as she did, but it seems those scruples are only a few minutes away. She still needs to kill as many soldiers as possible to survive, even brutally. Knife attacks, neck strikes, and firebombing are all fair game.
