Rifts of the Ancients is an important part of the Diablo Immortal leveling process and a key way to get those awesome Endgame legendary gems to help you develop your RPG character. After discovering that these gems can be affected by a “hidden” premium currency, one streamer discovered that even your fancy endgame gear doesn’t seem to matter in dungeons.
During his latest stream, Diablo Immortal player Quin69 completes a senior endgame Rift at max level completely naked and discovers that he can not only complete it, but almost as fast as completing Rifts in his full set of games. a late game stat that increases the bonus from your Legendary Gems, and Quin69 has plenty of that, as he spent almost NZ$24,000 on Gem Rolls without getting a 5-star drop.
In the clip, Quin69 completes Senior Rift in just under three minutes, which is pretty standard time for one of these endgame challenges – that’s faster, if anything. He even says that the monsters that appeared were some of the most hated that he had to face, but he managed to fly through the rift completely naked. “What am I playing at? He asks. “I’m playing a game where the team doesn’t matter.”
Users of the game’s subreddit aren’t too surprised. An “Unexpected Reloads” banner states that “Elder Rifts aren’t challenge or skill related. They’re just in the game to be a thin veil for loot boxes.” This consensus is everywhere: “Elder Rifts are loot boxes that take four minutes to open,” Hauntedbutt replies. Others point out that gear is important for server ranking and PvP, and don’t seem to mind that old rifts are a minor issue.
Quin69, for his part, is not thrilled with this revelation. “It is an abomination. How can they associate the name Devil with this? However, given his massive $24 million cash contribution to Diablo Immortal’s microtransactions over the past two weeks, that realization may have come too late.
In the meantime, we’ve heard all about the Diablo 4 level cap and campaign length ahead of Diablo 4’s release date, as well as information about the new Necromancer class. Blizzard says that the next numbered entry in the action RPG series will be a full game “based on additional cosmetic items and full story expansions.”
