A few days ago, new generation updates for Resident Evil 7 and remakes of the second and third parts were released. The new version offers support for ray tracing or 3D audio and other improvements. However, in addition to the current generation of consoles, they are also available on PC, and the players were not at all enthusiastic about the updates.

Enhanced games require the DirectX 12 API, which some older graphics cards may have issues with. Ray tracing is then very demanding, and even very powerful machines have problems with it. In addition, new versions suffer from various glitches and are incompatible with most modes.

Unlike consoles, PC didn’t have the ability to downgrade, which of course players didn’t like and asked Capcom to bring them back. The Japanese company reacted very quickly, announcing on Thursday morning that it was bringing back the old versions of all three games. Anyone who wants to return to them can do so.

The console versions were also not without problems. While the seven performs consistently with 60fps ray tracing, the two and three’s frame rate mode is relatively unstable in RT mode. We’ll see if Capcom decides on this in the future.
