New Stardew Valley mods add mass production to the farm

The new Stardew Valley mod aims to make life on the farm a little easier and more productive. The Solid Foundations mod is less of a traditional mod and more of a framework that other creators can add to it, customizing buildings and game production in subtle but significant ways. The main idea is simple. Solid Foundation adds the ability to create custom interiors, produce items based on rules you create, create skins, and more, and seamlessly integrate these features into Stardew in the form of items and services you can buy from Robin or the helper.

The framework debuted on NexusMods in early June, but the latest addition to Solid Foundation is subtle and meaningful descriptors. It’s called bulk processing, and while the screenshots may look like they’re straight out of an industrial dystopian version of Stardew Valley, they’re one of the best amenities to appear on the gaming scene.

Bulk Processing does exactly what it says on the box, adding two new processors as upgrades to the Keg and Oil Maker. The first is the Big Barrel, which modders Ham and NukaColaPrime say is the equivalent of eight regular barrels. It allows you to run eight keg processes at once and can even keep up to 10 in reserve, so you don’t have to worry about wasting time if you weren’t there when the previous process finished.

This currently only works with one type of item, such as eight piles of corn, though this may change in the future.

The second feature is the pot still which, you guessed it, increases the amount of oil you can process compared to basic butter. It works with sunflower oil, corn oil, and truffle oil, and even allows you to make vinegar from certain fruits.

NukaColaPrime said there are plans to add a can in the future, allowing it to mass-produce items that would normally require a can, such as gelatin.

Aside from the obvious benefits of saving time and clearing space in your fields faster, it looks like these mass-produced cultivators will also save a lot of space. Gone are the days when a quarter of your farm was spent on barrels and jugs, and you don’t even have to spend that much gold, copper, and wood to get them, thanks to reasonable modifier prices.

Mass Processing is just the latest in a series of Stardew Valley mods that expand your options on the farm and outdoors, from expanding into the valley to sending it into space and even giving it Pokémon to care for, and why not.
