Could a Call of Duty RPG game be in development? The creators of the phenomenal first-person shooter series Infinity Ward are currently wrapping up 2022’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for an October release, but the to-do list points to a possible open-world game as the next project.
With the announcement of Modern Warfare 2, Activision and Infinity Ward are promising that a “new era” of Call of Duty is about to begin. In addition to the new sequel to Modern Warfare and Warzone, the studio may have a drastically different project in the works.

Faizan Sheikh on Twitter — at Infinity Ward Studios in Poland, the narration director mentions “an unannounced AAA project”. Although the Polish studio is newer, like Infinity Ward, it focuses mainly on the Call of Duty series and has been involved in the last two Modern Warfare games. That, and Activision’s laser focus on the Call of Duty series, suggest this could be a new Call of Duty game.
The interesting part, though, is the job responsibilities, which state that the role is to “deliver the best narrative and cinematic experience in an open-world RPG,” with a focus on story, characters, lore, and building. of the world.
Unless this is a Call of Duty RPG in development, this will be the first non-Call of Duty game Infinity Ward has ever worked on. However, it seems that we will not know for a long time.
