Some things in life are unavoidable, and Starfield’s mistakes are at the top of the list. Bethesda Softworks finally gave us what we were waiting for at the Bethesda Xbox Games Showcase and showed off Starfield gameplay in minutes. As we dug into the backstory, planet names, and adherents of the hopping religion, one fan noticed something else: Starfield’s first misstep.
The first bug appears towards the middle of the game when the camera pans around what appears to be one of the Constellation bases. If you blink, you’ll miss it. In fact, if you don’t get close, you’ll probably miss it anyway. The only indication that something potentially bad is going on is the slight shake of the NPC model. Reddit user LotteryGamer took a closer look and saw that the NPC usually looks back and then his head locks as his body continues to move forward.
What makes it even better and gives it the usual Bethesda charm is the timing. As the NPC’s head gets stuck back, another character walking out of the enclosure notices and just watches the end of the clip.
“This is the best thing I’ve seen from Bethesda and I love it,” one user commented.
“That’s how we know it’s an honest gaming video,” said another.
You can see for yourself at 7:50 in the trailer.
The Starfield bug is consistent with what usually happens with Bethesda releases. When Skyrim first launched in 2011, it was riddled with bugs: glitches that trapped you in chairs and other objects, a broken fast travel system, and a rather strange bug that caused baskets to be placed on everyone’s heads.
The latter had the added bonus of letting you steal them without repercussions, and while we can’t work out what unintended benefits “head stuck back” might bring in Starfield, it’s probably not the last bug we’ll have. in an RPG space. .
Never change, Bethesda.
