If you’ve ever picked an item in FromSoftware’s vast open world game and don’t understand how it works, the Elden Ring mod will help. The Detailed Item Descriptions mod does exactly what it says on the tin: it adds new detailed item descriptions with exact numbers and damage percentages for each individual item in the RPG. This includes spells, equipment, and weapon skills, as well as any items used.
Jiggy, creator Detailed Elden Ring Mod Item Descriptions, says they created the mod because they were “tired of searching for every item to see what it actually does.” As a result, they embarked on a gigantic undertaking of rewriting the descriptions of “every item in the game, including spells, gear, and weapon skills.” These descriptions now include precise, often detailed, text descriptions that explain how the item is used and what effects it can apply.
The mod also spells out the exact numbers, breaking them down into individual stats like base physical damage, stat stacking (for stacking effects like sleeping or bleeding), and the percentage of buffs or debuffs applied to the characters involved. It even uses colored text to neatly break down the information in an easy-to-read and understand format.
For example, the mod tells you exactly what the infamous “Canopy’s Blessing” item obtained from Fiya does, listing the maximum 5% health reduction while in your possession and specifying that using it reduces physical damage by 35% and 52%. Increases your character’s balance for 15 seconds. Similarly, the mod explains that the Frozen Armament sorcery causes a stack of 48 freezes per attack for 60 seconds, and tells you that the spell can be cast while moving.
The mod also includes a helpful breakdown of what effects like freezing and bleeding actually do to any items or spells that can trigger them, so you don’t have to look elsewhere to find out what the pros and cons are. . It even covers up inconsistencies in weapon skills, explaining, for example, that the window of time to stop the ashes of war starts earlier and lasts longer on smaller shields than on medium shields.
Elden Ring, like previous FromSoftware games, is famous for the darkness of many of its elements, so this mod will definitely come in handy for people who want to get rid of that mystery without delving into Wikipedia articles. Jiggy points out that they didn’t change any of the lore or physical item descriptions, but instead separated them from the item effect sections. They have also corrected descriptions deemed “missing, misleading, or misrepresenting what the item does.”
This is just one of the amazing Elden Ring mods that the fantasy gaming community is working on, and some of them include smooth co-op multiplayer or make Elden Ring the best survival game on PC. You can even come face to face with unexpected internet sensation Binley Mega Chippy in a terrifying encounter if you wish.
