The Last of Us 2’s multiplayer mode resurfaces, but will be asked: Naughty Dog’s first look and promises
In addition to the TLoU remake, the PlayStation Studios team is working on a “multiple standalone experience”.
Naughty Dog’s creative director, Neil Druckmann, took to Summer Game Fest to confirm The Last of Us: Remake’s development with the first trailer, as well as to report on other TLoU-related projects, including the long-awaited multiplayer The Last of Us: Episode 2 that finally leaves news confirming that it will be more than just a simple mod: an independent gaming experience.

“It’s no secret that many of you are interested not only in The Last of Us stories, but also in the original Factions multiplayer game that was popular when we introduced it nearly a decade ago. There’s also been a lot of talk about an expansion. However, we can finally announce that we are creating something much bigger than modand we’re excited to share the concept art snapshot of our next multiplayer experience, which is an extremely ambitious undertaking,” said Druckmann.
“Our goal is to make our new multiplayer installment invite new playersnevertheless provides an exciting challenge for many of our experienced fans. There will be more news next year and we can’t wait to introduce the team after this new experience.”
That way, we’ll have to keep waiting to learn the most specific details of the multiplayer game, but at least we already know that development is still ongoing and the internal PlayStation Studios team is putting all the meat on the grill. In the meantime, we invite you to take a look at the analysis of The Last of Us 2.
