It looks like the Dungeons developers are planning a Minecraft RTS game

According to the report, a new Minecraft game is in development and it could be a strategy game from the Minecraft Dungeons development team. It’s just a rumor for now, but it looks like a Minecraft real-time strategy game is coming. Could it be shown on Xbox Showcase during Summer Game Fest?

In case you missed yesterday’s news, gaming journalist, leak and rumor leader Jeff Gerstmann is leaving Giant Bomb and going solo, but don’t expect that to be the end of his rumor mill. Now, in a video on his own Twitch channel (via ResetEra), Gerstmann says that “a new Minecraft spin-off is in the works.”

Microsoft is apparently “testing” it right now, and Gerstmann says he’s seen some screenshots that make it look like an RTS game. The player apparently controls a unit on the field and commands the units from a “third person” perspective, which is sort of like Overlord. It will also have a “plot and cutscenes”.

As for who’s developing it, Minecraft Dungeons studio Double Eleven, which is currently working on Fallout 76, has job openings for an unannounced “major RTS IP game,” which seems like too much of a coincidence to ignore.

As for when this Minecraft RTS game will be announced, it’s very possible that it will appear on Xbox Showcase. If you want to know when it is and the complete schedule of the Summer Game Fest, you can consult it at this link.
