Xbox Game Pass players know there’s a lot to look forward to in the coming months, but nothing on the schedule that’s eyebrow-raising and stomach-churning like Scorn. This biopunk FPS survival horror is Ebb Software’s first game and will be available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass at launch. If you’re wondering when this happened, you’re not alone. Thankfully, after a series of delays and the risk of getting stuck in development hell, Ebb Software has set an October release date – and we can’t wait.
In a recent dev update shared via Steam, Ebb Software confirmed that the team is still on track for Scorn’s October 2022 release date. Scorn designer Ljubomir Peklar has not confirmed. a specific date for fans waiting for the game to release. shared an idea of where the team stands in terms of development.
“Over the past month, our 3D team has finished creating all of the remaining static meshes, so production is progressing well. They aim to have everything ready by June. Animation and visual effects are our main focus right now and the teams are busy fixing bugs and getting everything done. We’re in full swing for our October release and are excited to show off more of the game soon.
Also, good news for fans waiting to dive into the chunky world of Scorn, Ebb Software has started running with Peklar about their weapon, which looks just as weird as the rest of the game.
Weapons found in Scorn are often optional advancement aids. Humans have a strange relationship with their tools, especially their weapons. “How a player or character behaves when they get a weapon is an interesting central theme that I kept in mind during development.”
Peklar goes on to explain that “weapons are relatively standard in terms of functionality”, and for that, we appreciate it! (These weapons look gross, okay?) The fact that ammo is a limited resource in Scorn may mean you won’t see many of these weird weapons during gameplay.
Since Scorn is an Xbox console exclusive and a Day One Game Pass title, there’s nothing stopping it from showing up in some way during the Summer Game Fest Xbox showcase.
