Zen 4 AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs are coming later this year, and we already know a lot about Team Red’s best gaming CPUs to come. However, it looks like the chipmaker has a few surprises up its sleeve, particularly when it comes to a key spec.

During the Zen 4 Computex presentation, AMD showed off a pre-production Ryzen 7000 processor running at 5.5 GHz during a Ghostwire: Tokyo gameplay demo. However, according to Angstronomics, at least one of Team Red’s processors may be even faster with an Fmax of 5.85 GHz. For those who don’t know, “Fmax” basically describes the maximum scheduled clock speed of the processor, which is usually a bit higher than the advertised clock speed.

If that’s true, we could consider the Ryzen 9 7950X to run 800 MHz faster than its predecessor, the Ryzen 9 5950X, making it the best choice for any gaming PC upgrade. However, we do not yet know how this will affect. actual performance, let alone how these clock speeds will compare to Intel Raptor Lake.

One thing is for sure, you’ll want to pair this would-be blazing-fast chip with one of the best gaming motherboards with the AMD X670 chipset.
