A few minutes after the official announcement Starfield postponedJason Schreier, a Bloomberg journalist and known for having multiple connections in the gaming industry, developers were extremely worried for the previous release date, such that apparently “upcoming Cyberpunk 2077“, thus suggesting that studies were well behind schedule at the time.
“The spring before E3, I spoke at Starfield with some people who were extremely concerned about getting the job done by November 11, 2022, based on the progress they’ve made so far.” The next Cyberpunk was the “variable term,” Schreier says on Twitter.
“It’s good that Bethesda delayed the game even after announcing a specific release date.”
Just moments ago, Bethesda announced that both Starfield and Redfall have been delayed and will not be released in 2022 as previously announced.
The comparison with Cyberpunk 2077 quoted by Schreier shows that work on Starfield has definitely fallen behind schedule, with concerns that it presented numerous bugs at launch, such as performance issues and the CD Projekt RED title. It’s somewhat in line with the official reasons for its delay, as Bethesda says gamers will get “the best and most polished version possible” of Starfield this way.
