Earlier this week, the Czech studio Amanita Design published a photo that looks mysterious at first glance, which, however, upon closer inspection, can be combined with the upcoming project. Phonopolison which a team of three people has been working on for several years, which came under the wing of Amanita. The existence of the game is not a secret, but so far little has been said about it., so the photos in connection with the change of the Amanity logo in social networks suggested that we would finally find out more about this soon. And so it happened.

Amanita Design describes Phonopolis as new DIY adventure from the creators of Machinaria or Creaks. “Phonopolis is based on a more serious substance than Amanita fans are used to. Her story interweaves themes such as manipulation and individualism, but tends to retain a fly agaric foresight and playfulness. Players take on the role of Felix, an inconspicuous young man who, along with his fellow citizens, unknowingly faces a great threat. The authoritarian Leader of the city is going to discern the Absolute Tone through the ubiquitous amplions and forever dominate the collective mind of all the people in the city. It is only by chance that Felix, as the only one of the inhabitants, realizes what can happen and tries to thwart the Leader’s plan. we’ll read it on the product page on Steam.

Phonopolis attracts landing in the eponymous dystopian cityand also on 3D handmade corrugated world. Therefore, the creators first created everything by hand, and only then turned the cardboard models into 3D models. Players can also draw traditional animation at 12 frames per secondreminiscent of classic animated films, or a variety of playful puzzles and riddles.

Since Phonopolis is an Amanity game, it won’t disappear either. music by Tomasz Dvořák aka Floex (Machinarium, Samorost 3). By the way, Dvorak is also signed to the adventure music. Paperwhich is the fault of the Polish developer Tomasz Ostafin, nicknamed Petums, and which was also created by hand, using paper models.

In the description of the first teaser, which you can see above, Amanita points out that Phonopolis doesn’t have a release date yet as the developers still have a lot of work to do.. We don’t even expect the game to be released in the next 12 months, so we will definitely wait at least a year before the release.

The creators now clearly want to show off in the first place the first fragments of the development of the final product, which takes place with a focus on multiple platforms. Unfortunately, we don’t even know what platforms they’re on. As for the Steam side of the game, the PC version is a given, but at the same time, the question is whether Phonopolis will prefer mobile devices or consoles, or whether it will eventually reach every conceivable platform. We will probably find out in the future.
