Chinese League of Legends star Jian ‘Uzi’ Zi-Hao has made his highly anticipated return to action, more than two years after he last played a competitive LoL game.
The award-winning botlaner retired from League of Legends esports midway through the 2020 season after not playing a game that year due to health issues. His last match before retiring was against Fnatic at Worlds 2019, when his team Royal NeverGiveUp were knocked out of the competition at the time. However, in December last year, Uzi retired and was signed by LPL side Bilibili Gaming as part of a major roster overhaul.
Although Bilibili kept Uzi on the bench this season and replaced him with young botlaner Chiu ‘Doggo’ Tzu-Chuan, Doggo was replaced by Uzi in today’s game against Invictus Gaming. This is the veteran’s first competitive game in 852 days.
Despite a few exploits in the first game that led many to believe that Uzi hadn’t lost any of his previous abilities, the form failed to sustain throughout the series as IG slumped. is away as the 2-1 winner.

While not a winning return to competitive LoL for Uzi, seeing one of the world’s most beloved players back on the main stage was certainly a treat – According to LPL expert ‘Ran’, Uzi was the top trending term on Chinese social media site Weibo today.
It’s currently unclear if Uzi will remain on the roster for the time being or if Doggo will return to the rookie botlaner role. Bilibili’s next match will be against Everything’s Legend in two days, so time will tell.
