It’s been a hot minute since we saw Nicolaj ‘Jensen’ Jensen in action. The League Championship Series veteran was unable to make the League of Legends roster for the Spring 2022 season after being knocked out by Team Liquid in December, but the mid laner could be on the verge of returning to the professional game in top form.
According to sources close to League’s Alejandro “anonymotum” Gomis, Jensen is preparing to return to Cloud9, where he spent three and a half years upon his arrival in North America. The news follows an earlier report from Upcomer’s Brieuc ‘LEC Wooloo’ Seeger that Ibrahim ‘Fudge’ Allami will move into the top lane for the summer.
During his first stint with Cloud9, Jensen went to Worlds four times and appeared on multiple LCS All-Pro teams during his tenure. But he didn’t find success domestically until he joined Team Liquid in late 2018. In his first season as a Team Liquid player, Jensen won back-to-back LCS titles and was the MVP. of the 2019 LCS Summer Finals playoffs.
As one of the most experienced players in the region residing in NA, many were surprised that the Dane arrived in 2022 without a team. With LEC Wooloo reporting that NA resident Kim “Winsome” Dong-keon also looks set to migrate from Cloud9, catching Jensen will have the team looking for new support internationally.
With Jensen potentially reuniting with Robert ‘Blaber’ Huang, two of the five Cloud9 players who made that historic semi-final for NA at Worlds 2018 will try to advance the team to the most important tournament of the year as the LCS returns for the summer. June 18.
