KraftonThe South Korean company behind PUBG: Battlegrounds, The Callisto Protocol, Moonbreaker, and Tera announced Acquisition of Neon GiantSwedish development studio author Climb.
The company disclosed this at its last meeting with shareholders for the close of the third quarter of the fiscal year, but did not share details about the terms of the deal and the monetary investment required to complete the operation.
Neon Giant is a studio founded in 2018 by experienced developers who have worked on games such as Bulletstorm, Far Cry 3, Gears of War, Wolfenstein and Doom. In 2020 it released The Ascent, an action RPG shooter set in a cyberpunk world, which you can read our review of. Neon Giant is currently working on a new game that will be an open world first-person shooter.
Krafton also plans to bring one to life big study in canadaHe will lead the development of The Bird That Drinks Tears, a game based on the Korean fantasy-style novel series of the same name (here elves, magic, and dragons are replaced by dokkaebi ed.), presented by Lee Yaeongdo in a trailer in September.
We also learn from Krafton’s report that the company reported revenue of $328.5 million in the third quarter, and $171.5 million profit, with an annual growth of 27%. According to the company, these positive results come from PUBG: Battlegrounds and its growth in recent months following the transition to the free-to-play formula.
