Capcom developers shared new details through a series of interviews conducted during Tokyo Game Show 2022. Shadows of the RoseDLC Resident Evil Village Starring Rose Winters, among other things, reveals that the expansion will focus more on survival elements than seen in the base game.
According to director Kento Kinoshita’s words, he will be in Shadows of Rose harder to survive More so than any other game in the Resident Evil series. Gameplay as Rose will be more defensive, as the goal will be to survive rather than kill anything that moves.
Kinoshita explains that Rose isn’t an expert in firearms and isn’t particularly athletic, and that this will affect gameplay: she’ll move a little slower than Ethan and her aim will be more inaccurate. On the other hand, Rose will be able to count on a number of things. unique powersbut in war it will function purely as a defense. They will also be at the center of some of the puzzles suggested by the DLC.
Shadows of Rose will take us back to earth. Dimitrescu Castle Resident Evil Village won’t be the only place in this DLC, however. The developers have described the environments as “warped”, the rooms and objects are not where they should be. The level design has also changed based on the original game, suggesting that the DLC will become more warped and psychedelic as the adventure progresses.
Capcom developers are also in Shadows of Rose great “mystery” will appear before the end of the expansion, and that all monsters and characters have deeper meanings than they originally appeared. As such, they believe that playing the DLC a second time after discovering the “truth” will give players a different perspective on the experience as a whole. Also, not all creatures seem to be dangerous to Rose, and it will be up to the player to figure out which characters and monsters can help her and which pose a threat.
