Nintendo is alone in the console war and all eyes are on the big duel between Sony and Microsoft. If you suspect that Sony’s console is selling better than Microsoft’s, an official document has arrived to confirm the hunch.
To justify the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Brazilian competition officials, court documents have emerged directly comparing the sales of Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
knock out
Since 2015, Microsoft has refused to release sales figures, saying it’s not a reliable indicator of success because the company has invested heavily in its affordable Xbox Game Pass offering in other media.
On the other hand, analysts (for example, Ampere Analysis) estimate Xbox One sales at 51 million units in 2020. In the end, the figure is close to the truth, since the documents sent to the Brazilian justice speak of sales 2 times lower than sales of the Sony console.
Sony recently released PS4 sales figures, revealing that they sold 117.2 million consoles (the second highest volume ever for a home console). As a result, Microsoft is expected to sell around 58.5 million units, placing the Xbox One between Nintendo’s NES and SNES.
