As you probably know, as you enter the Storm Storm Fortress, you’ll eventually find yourself face-to-face with Godrick, who is the lord of the castle and basically all regions of the Tomb, as well as the owner of one of the shards of the ancestral ring.
The discovery of the mod maker relates to a quest that was discontinued by FromSoftware, but still present in the game files, which will be activated after Godrick is killed; In this task, Lightless will have to choose his successor from among three possible candidates. Kenneth Haight, Nepheli Loux and Gostocgiving him a crown.
In particular, this quest would reveal some interesting backgrounds. Gostocwho in a dialogue allegedly claims to be Godrick’s son, thereby partially expressing his grudge against him and urging the Lightless to give him the crown to become the new Lord of Stormstorm Castle.
Unfortunately the task is not completed, so it is impossible to know whether the choice will have significant consequences. Likewise, the reasons for FromSoftware’s decision not to integrate this side-quest into Elden Ring are unclear, and we’ll likely never know.
Still on the Elden Ring issue, another hack mission could let Lightless gather the dreams of enemies and NPCs in Interregnum.
