ESL Gaming, the world’s leading esports company, and Nielsen, the world leader in audience research, data and analytics, today announced the extension of their business relationship for another three years. The new agreement expands on the business relationship that began in 2019 and will continue to set the standard for esports research, providing current and future ESL Gaming brand partners with the confidence they need to take their next or first step into the esports industry.
“Nielsen is a true market leader when it comes to eSports research. The long-standing partnership has already provided our business partners with a wealth of in-depth insights and a wealth of robust, standardized data on esports communities, brand activations, and measurable ROI,” said Tobias Vogt, Director of Business Operations at ESL Gaming.
“By expanding this collaboration to include more events, we continue to innovate our ecosystems and the industry as a whole, and we are thrilled to continue to share our vast knowledge with our current and future partners.”
ESL Gaming and Nielsen Expand Collaboration
The scope of the partnership has been expanded to track more events per year and more broadcasts across platforms and channels. Spanning 17 events, including the ESL Pro Tour in CS:GO and ESL Gaming’s Dota 2 venues, as well as ESL Gaming’s complete mobile esports ecosystem, the collaboration focuses on four main areas:
● Media and sponsor rating: Measuring and tracking media value for brands and media partners across major streaming platforms and broadcast languages to provide a “big picture” of the audience and media value achieved for partners;
● Community and fan analysis: Analysis of esports audience research providing quantitative and qualitative information and consumer analysis;
● Using Standardized Metrics to measure and benchmark esports audiences across all relevant global and local streaming platforms;
● Mobile games and eSports: ESL Gaming’s recently announced Snapdragon Pro Series evaluation, including streaming evaluation and partner integration directly into games for eligible mobile devices.
“We are proud that ESL trusts Nielsen as a trusted source for an overview of all of its global events. In addition, we are working closely with ESL to better understand their concerns and provide the best and most useful data on partner ratings and fan/consumer behavior in the rapidly evolving entertainment industry around the world,” explains Timo Krüger, Commercial Director of eSports & Games at Nielsen eSports.
In addition, the agreement allows ESL Gaming to regularly report monetary ratings to brand partners and advertisers based on the industry-leading Nielsen IQ (Quality Index) media methodology. This allows for reliable benchmarking against other esports and traditional sports.
