Bethesda has made three classic games from its catalog free on Steam.
After the death of Bethesda.net Launcher, the company began to completely switch to Steam. Starting May 11, 2022, players will no longer be able to play games through the launcher and will instead need to transfer their library to Steam.
After the launcher launched, a number of retro Bethesda games became available for free on Steam. ენიThey are:
Originally released in 1994 and 1996, Arena and Daggerfall first became playable on Steam. Two games that were free after the series’ tenth and 15th anniversary are expected to remain free for the foreseeable future. Elder Scrolls fans who may have only played Oblivion or Skyrim may be annoyed by the complexity of these older subtitles, but they’re still solid RPG classics. Those wondering how the series was founded may see joining Steam as a great opportunity.
At the time of writing, it appears that none of the three games are available for download in the player’s Steam libraries. Instead, each has a “free game” tag and can be run directly from their respective Steam pages.
Elsewhere, news of The Elder Scrolls VI has been scarce since it was announced at E3 2018. Bethesda is currently focusing on its next RPG, Starfield, exclusively for the Xbox.
