Wrath of the Lich King Classic will take players back to the icy realm of Northrend.

From a sinister citadel in the heart of the frozen continent of Northrend, the fearsome Lich King Arthas Menethil takes the first step towards his conquest of Azeroth, ushering in one of the most unforgettable sagas in Warcraft® history. Today, Blizzard Entertainment announced that World of Warcraft®: Wrath of the Lich King Classic™ arriving this yearinviting players to experience an adventure that has forever marked the history of Warcraft.

When it releases in 2022, this remastered re-release of the popular 2008 expansion will be available at no additional cost to all players with an active World of Warcraft subscription.

Highlights of Wrath of the Lich King Classic

just like he’s shaking WoW® in the original release in 2008, Wrath of the Lich King Classic will please both beginners and veterans with a host of innovative features, including:

• Ominous frozen north: Players will begin their journey in one of two areas of Northrend, Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord, and be enchanted by some of the most beautiful scenery and most famous stories in Warcraft before arriving at the Lich King’s seat of power in Icecrown. .
• Rise of the Death Knights: Available to both factions and starting at level 55, Death Knights, WoW’s first class of heroes, use the powers of darkness to help fight the evil that threatens Azeroth.
• New Profession – Caption: The new profession allows players to create mystical glyphs that can change the appearance and properties of spells and abilities, as well as create trinkets and items of great power for the left hand.
• Achievements unlocked: Achievements are coming to WoW Classic to offer players a new series of Achievement and Achievement rewards.
• Dungeons and Raids: Relive iconic 5-player dungeons such as Azzhol-Nerub and the Purification of Stratholme and lay siege to Naxxramas in 10-player raid, a 40-player raid remastered version of the original on World of Warcraft pre-expansion.

Players will be able to create death knight characters during pre-release content updates Wrath of the Lich King Classic. All players will be able to create death knight characters without any conditions or restrictions. (To create subsequent Death Knight characters on this server, an existing character of level 55 or higher will be required.)
