February Games: Review and Poll

In the first month of 2024, players saw the release of several major games. In addition to the remaster of The Last of Us Part II, interest was generated, for example, by the successful return of the Prince of Persia brand or new parts of the Japanese series Tekken, Ace Attorney and Like a Dragon. Strategy fans also got their money’s worth, as they could start playing the games War Hospital and New Cycle. But there was also a lot of talk about the action RPG Enshrouded and the survival game Palworld.

Looking at the February lineup of games, we can assume that we won’t be bored this month either. The first half will feature games such as Persona 3 Reload, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Helldivers 2 or Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. In the second half of the month, a pirate event will take the stage. Skull and crossbones from Ubisoft, the unconventional Survival Pacific Drive, a remake of the cooperative adventure Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons or the anticipated JRPG Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Persona 3 Reboot

At the beginning of the month, Japanese publisher Atlus will give the completely reworked third part of the Persona series a modern form. So, if you happened to drop into this famous brand with the generally very positively received fifth part, then thanks to the new version nicknamed Reload, the way is open for the third part.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Developers Rocksteady are releasing a full-fledged new game after more than eight years. The British team’s last game was 2015’s action-adventure Batman: Arkham Knight, which ended the award-winning Arkham series, at least for now. But the team has stayed true to the superhero theme and the DC universe. Instead of Batman himself, they’ve decided to focus on a whole host of heroes in their new film, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

In addition to a long development time that has been affected by several delays, the announced focus on live service elements and collaboration is causing nervousness among players. In short, the developers were targeting a slightly different group of players this time around. The question is whether this move will pay off for them.

Helldivers II

If you like to spend time playing co-op games, then in addition to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, you will also be able to tackle the second part of the Helldivers series in early February. The sequel is being developed with the support of Sony at the Swedish studio Arrowhead Game, which has already signed the first part since 2015.

The fundamental change is the transition from a top-down view to a third-person camera. In addition to the ubiquitous action and emphasis on cooperation, the authors propose to move to a dystopian future in which players, as members of an elite combat unit, will face an alien invasion.

The Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

In the action-RPG Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, fans of strong stories will have to find their way. The game is created by the French studio Don’t Nod, which is best remembered for the first two parts of the Life is Strange series. Despite its greater inclination towards action and RPG elements, Banishers should also have a rich story, the direction of which you will be able to influence with your dialogue choices.

Skull and crossbones

After more than 10 years of work on the pirate event “Skull and Bones”, after a number of delays and changes to the entire format, they will finally see a successful conclusion in February. Considering the extremely problematic and lengthy development, it is a miracle that the game is finally released. The very idea of ​​a multiplayer pirate action game with large-scale sea battles after so many years still seems quite original and interesting. However, whether the developers will be able to attract a sufficiently active and numerous community to the game, which is extremely important for any multiplayer game, is a question.

Le Mans Ultimate

After a long time, racing title fans will get a full-fledged new game from the endurance racing environment, headed by the license of the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. The game, called Le Mans Ultimate, is developed by the studio 397, which in the past presented rFactor 2, a popular game among simulator fans, so in the past, Le Mans Ultimate should focus primarily on realism and licensed content in the results. on cars and tracks from the World Endurance Championship.

Miracle Worker

The imaginary dark horse of February could well be the unremarkable at first glance story-driven RPG The Thaumaturge, which is being developed by the Polish team Fool’s Theory with the support of the publisher 11 bit. The game will take you to Warsaw in the early 20s of the last century, where you will have to investigate murders and other serious crimes. The key element of the title should be the choice in dialogues and a branching way of solving individual problems.

Pacific Drive

The upcoming game Pacific Drive will try to bring at least one unconventional element to the already somewhat exhausted survival genre. Instead of a character, you will have to primarily take care of your vehicle, which is absolutely necessary for survival in a dangerous world. In addition to collecting raw materials and completing tasks, you will not do without regular repairs and upgrades of your zoom. And all this in an atmospheric dark world with hints of horror.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake

In addition to the expected remake of Final Fantasy VII, a new version of the adventure game Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, signed by the famous designer and director Josef Fares, will also be released in February. However, the publisher 505 Games has entrusted the development of the remake to the Italian team AvantGarden Games. Thanks to the use of the fifth-generation Unreal Engine, major changes are expected especially in the area of ​​graphics processing. In terms of genre, the game will continue to rely on isometric projection, logical puzzles and cooperation between two players.

Final Fantasy VII Reborn

At the end of the month, Square Enix will unveil the second part of the Final Fantasy VII remake, which will follow its predecessor from 2020. The developers are enticing to continue the ongoing story, rich open world and more than 100 hours of content. Fans of the series in this case will probably not have to wait long. Although the game is currently only intended for PlayStation 5, it is expected to be released on computers in the future.
