July Games: Review and Poll

A look at July’s offerings illustrates the traditionally quieter time of year for AAA games. Despite this, we’ll see three releases relatively soon. ambitious free games in the form of First Descendant, Once Upon a Time Man and Stormgate. The second free game is Once Human. It attracted a lot of attention a few weeks ago when it became the most popular game at the Steam Next Fest. In addition to the action and battles, you will not do without collecting individual resources and equipment.

Movies Tycoon

Movies Tycoon by Prague-based PixelCraze was originally supposed to be released in June. However, at the last minute, the developers decided to postpone the game’s release for a month. This is a management strategy game in which you take control of your own film studio. Your responsibilities will include, for example, hiring and managing individual members of the film crew, led by actors, producers and scriptwriters. But you will also be designing and building the film sets themselves. The character editor is also interesting, allowing you to create your own actors and actresses from scratch.

Nobody wants to die

A potential dark horse for July could be the upcoming noir adventure game Nobody Wants to Die, developed by Critical Hit Games and published by Plaion. The game takes players to a dystopian New York City in 2329, where advanced technology rules. Story-wise, you’ll follow detective James Carr as he tracks down a serial killer.

The authors offer a fascinating story in which the player will have to uncover the dark side of the local cream of the crop, as well as complex mechanics in the field of investigation itself, in which advanced technology and time manipulation will play a leading role.

Flintlock: Siege of Dawn

The upcoming RPG Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, developed by A44 Games and published by Kepler Interactive, is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of July. Flintlock will focus on a third-person camera and an open world divided into three regions. As for the gameplay, it should include a complex combat system, a higher difficulty, a diverse set of enemies, including boss battles, and other elements from games like Souls.

The weaker offerings in the AAA category give some smaller games a chance to stand out. For example, Survival Horror Conscript from developer Jordan Mocha, who is being helped as a publisher by Team17, will try to fit into this group. Specifically, you put yourself in the shoes of a lone French soldier, who walks through intricate trenches, searches for necessary supplies and solves various puzzles. And all this in the midst of a terrifying military conflict.

F1 Manager 2024

By genre, it is an RTS, combining elements of fantasy and science fiction.

The developers offer a traditional campaign, co-op and multiplayer. From a technical point of view, it is worth paying attention to the use of Unreal Engine 5.
