We also saw the release of the adventure horror game Still Wakes the Deep from Chinese Room Studio, the racing game F1 24 from Codemasters or the expansion Night Springs for the second Alan Wake. Fans of Japanese art were also sated with the release of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD.

A look at July’s offerings illustrates the traditionally quieter time of year for AAA games. Despite this, we’ll see three releases relatively soon. ambitious free games in the form of First Descendant, Once Upon a Time Man and Stormgate. They will be complemented by the role-playing game Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn from A44 Games, the adventure game Nobody Wants to Die from publisher Plaion or the next edition of the F1 Manager series from Frontier.

First descendant

  • Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
  • Publication date: July 2
  • Location: No
  • Price: free game

In early July, two relatively ambitious free games will be released. The first to catch the attention of players was a game called The First Descendant. This is a third-person looter shooter from the South Korean studio Nexos. The developers offer a diverse set of missions that can be played both in single-player mode and in a cooperative mode for up to four players.

From a gameplay perspective, it will be important to use the abilities of individual characters, with which you can defeat giant bosses in cooperation with other players. The technical side, which will be powered by Unreal Engine 5, should not be left aside either.

Once upon a time a man

  • Platform: PC, Android, iOS
  • Publication date: July 9
  • Location: No
  • Price: free game

The second free game is Once Human. It attracted a lot of attention a few weeks ago when it became the most popular game at the Steam Next Fest. The developers from the independent studio Starry describe their project as a multiplayer survival game that takes players to an open post-apocalyptic world. Here you will find various dangers. In addition to the action and battles, you will not do without collecting individual resources and equipment.

Movies Tycoon

  • Platform: PC (Early Access)
  • Publication date: July 15

Movies Tycoon by Prague-based PixelCraze was originally supposed to be released in June. However, at the last minute, the developers decided to postpone the game’s release for a month. This is a management strategy game in which you take control of your own film studio. Your responsibilities will include, for example, hiring and managing individual members of the film crew, led by actors, producers and scriptwriters. But you will also be designing and building the film sets themselves. The character editor is also interesting, allowing you to create your own actors and actresses from scratch.

Nobody wants to die

  • Price: unknown

A potential dark horse for July could be the upcoming noir adventure game Nobody Wants to Die, developed by Critical Hit Games and published by Plaion. The game takes players to a dystopian New York City in 2329, where advanced technology rules. Story-wise, you’ll follow detective James Carr as he tracks down a serial killer.

The authors offer a fascinating story in which the player will have to uncover the dark side of the local cream of the crop, as well as complex mechanics in the field of investigation itself, in which advanced technology and time manipulation will play a leading role.

Flintlock: Siege of Dawn

  • Publication date: July 18
  • Location: No
  • Price: 40 euros

The upcoming RPG Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, developed by A44 Games and published by Kepler Interactive, is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of July. The aforementioned team has previously attracted attention with the rather original action game Ashen, released in 2018. Flintlock will focus on a third-person camera and an open world divided into three regions. As for the gameplay, it should include a complex combat system, a higher difficulty, a diverse set of enemies, including boss battles, and other elements from games like Souls.

conscript

  • Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch
  • Publication date: July 23
  • Location: No
  • Price: 20 euros

The weaker offerings in the AAA category give some smaller games a chance to stand out. For example, Survival Horror Conscript from developer Jordan Mocha, who is being helped as a publisher by Team17, will try to fit into this group. The game impresses, first of all, with its setting, which takes the player back to the period of World War I. Specifically, you put yourself in the shoes of a lone French soldier, who walks through intricate trenches, searches for necessary supplies and solves various puzzles. And all this in the midst of a terrifying military conflict.

F1 Manager 2024

  • Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch
  • Publication date: July 23
  • Location: No
  • Price: 35 euros

Developers from Frontier Developments will release a new edition of the F1 Manager series in the second half of the month. This will be the third part of the game of this brand, in which you become the boss of a Formula 1 team. The authors mainly rely on content related to a real championship license and rich opportunities in the field of management and strategy of a racing team during the race weekend itself.

Stormgate

  • Platform: PC (Early Access)
  • Publication date: July 30
  • Location: No
  • Price: free game

At the very end of July, fans of old Blizzard games, led by games like Starcraft 2 and Warcraft 3, will also get their money. It is behind these two cult games that an attempt will be made to create a project called Stormgate, which is behind the Frost Giant studio. It was founded by Blizzard veterans. By genre, it is an RTS, combining elements of fantasy and science fiction.

The developers offer a traditional campaign, co-op and multiplayer. From a technical point of view, it is worth paying attention to the use of Unreal Engine 5. Although the basic version of the game will be based on a free model, there will also be paid editions with various bonuses and exclusive content.
