SEASON: A Letter to the Future, a Canadian game developed by Scavengers Studio, won the Best Game category at this year’s BIG Awards 2023.. This Friday (30) BIG festivalthe largest gaming festival in Latin America, recognized and awarded the best independent games of the year in several categories.
The night’s big winners include Bloodless by Point N’ Sheep for Best Game: Brazil and What Lies in the Multiverse by IguanaBee of Chile and Studio Voyager for Best Game: Latin America.
“This is very encouraging, our team is very pleased with this achievement. I would like to congratulate everyone who won tonight, it was great to watch the awards and cheer for the winners. Thank you for believing in the project, our team was very honored with so many competing categories and, moreover, winning the best game!”, commented Cathy Postma, public relations specialist at Scavengers Studio, during the awards ceremony.

In addition to the BIG Awards trophy, the jury BIG Festival 2023 each received 5,000 reais. The other categories of the ceremony guaranteed the winners an exclusive trophy that recognized them as the top winners of the evening.
“Our team has seen many ways to make games in their careers, and it’s definitely better than working together to achieve the same goal. I want to thank the organization and curatorship of the event for the opportunity and attention to the project, we are already the second year at the exhibition and, finally, we came out as winners among so many wonderful finalist games! Long live Brazilian indie!“ said Danilo Freire of Point N’ Sheep.
Other notable wins at the BIG Awards are “Universe for Sale” by Italian studio Tmesis Studio in the “Best Art” category; and RAILGRADE by Japanese studio Minkata Dynamics in the Best Gameplay category.
The winner in the Innovation category was Touch Type Tale by the German studio Pumpernickel. In this edition of the BIG Awards BIG festival it also awarded three games in the BIG Impact categories: Education, Social Issues, and Diversity. In this section, the winners of the ceremony were, respectively, Turma das Patinas from the Crenix Brazilian Games; Atuel from Argentine studio Matajuegos; and “Year of Spring” by Japanese npckc.

A total of 626 games from 52 countries were submitted for the awards. The games submitted were judged by the Festival Selection Committee and 110 games were selected to compete in 18 award categories, including Best Story, Sound, Multiplayer and more. Even after the BIG Awards, all 110 award-nominated games remain available for testing in the physical space BIG Festival 2023. In addition, visitors can get acquainted with the works selected for Panorama Brasil.

In addition to the BIG Awards, BIG Festival 2023 shows Panorama Brasil by Banco do Brasil, a non-competitive show with 40 Brazilian games. In this edition, students have developed nine Panorama Brasil 2023 games. Compared to last year, this list has received three more positions.
IN BIG Festival 2023two games that were at Panorama Brasil last year returned to the event, but this time with BIG Awards nominations: Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles, developed by Little Leo Games, competed in the categories Best Sound, Best Game : Brazil. and Best Game: International, as well as Point N’ Sheep’s Bloodless title, are among the contenders for Best Game: Brazil.
