city state Singapore was at the forefront of innovation by hosting the first editionOlympic eSports Weekin which the dispute took place 10 finals Olympic Esports Series 2023. This is not the first time Singapore has been chosen to host the first event on the Olympic calendar, as 2010 already hosted the first Youth Olympic Games.
The event kicked off with the Olympic Esports Week Forum, which brought together a number of technology, gaming and traditional sports industry leaders, as well as elite players including the Ewok and Jaime “Karma” Bickford.
Olympic eSports Week provided an immersive experience as sports and gaming came together to create a one-of-a-kind event. Many disciplines were represented, including Tick Tock Bow (archery), Virtual regatta (sail) Just dance (dance), WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS (baseball), Chess.com (chess), tennis clash (tennis), ISSF Challenge featuring Fortnite (sport shooting) e Gran Turismo 7 (motor racing), all of which are laid out under the Olympic rings.
There was no shortage of the most anticipated competitions, such as sports shooting and car racing, which were played in games with a large number of fans around the world. However, the event that attracted the attention of the public was the final virtual taekwondo,the latest of the 2023 Olympic Esports Series. Six local athletes made it to the final, fans in Singapore rallied to cheer on their athletes, and the presence of two of them in the final added to the excitement of the race.
During a taekwondo competition, the young daughter of Olympic champion and Olympic eSports Series bronze medalist Wu Jinyu hugged her mother before demonstrating her skills in the discipline.
The best players in the world of Rocket League, Virtual Table Tennis, Duathlon (Arena Games Triathlon), Street Fighter 6 and eFIBA at NBA2K came together in a fierce battle, showing the best of their skills.
The attendees had the opportunity to try out all the playgrounds at the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Center for free for a week and perhaps discover a new passion for sports or video games.
Olympic eSports Week was an exciting and groundbreaking event that left an indelible mark on the minds of visitors and fans around the world, once again demonstrating Singapore’s ability to be at the forefront of organizing large-scale events.
