Ultra-realistic body cam FPS game Unrecord launched its Steam page this week and a new trailer showing off the movement and shooting mechanics, as well as hints at some of the game’s story. footage, and the game’s first trailer shows a shootout in an abandoned building. Now, developer Drama is answering questions about Unrecord, saying the game is genuine, based on Unreal Engine 5, and doesn’t use VR. The developer also says that Unrecord will allow you to “avoid unwanted themes.”
In a Q&A session with the developers, Drama addresses “player concerns” by first answering some of the responses asking if the engine fully captures footage from Unrecord’s first gameplay trailer. .
“There were a lot of questions about the authenticity of the game,” Drama says. “The game is developed on Unreal Engine 5 and the game footage is captured from the executable file and played using the keyboard and mouse. This is not a virtual reality game.
“Given the high costs of producing a video game and our global reputation at stake, if Unrecord were a scam, it would be a successful scam. So, logically you are not alone. We do not use any real video or external representation in Unreal Engine to create Unrecord. Unrecord is (ir)real.
The developer then clarifies whether Unrecord is “pro-police or anti-police,” explaining that Unrecord is “not involved in any foreign policy” and will not represent any “prejudicial opinion.”
“The game does not involve any foreign policy and is not inspired by any real events,” says Drama. “Obviously, the game will avoid all undesirable themes like discrimination, racism, and violence against women and minorities. The game will not have a biased or Manichaean approach to criminal activity and police violence.
“We also respect and understand people who may be disturbed by in-game footage,” Drama continues. “Art cannot fight against interpretation. When it comes to detective, gangster, or cop stories, audiences generally trust the writers of movies, TV shows, and novels to have a reasonable point of view. Why not for a video game? If there are political messages in the game, they will be done consciously or on your interpretation. If the game targets subversive activities in certain countries, we will take this tag.
The drama also states that Unrecord’s “apology for unrevealed content” will lead to spoilers. As for the release date, Drama says that as an independent, self-funded studio, and since Unrecord is their first game, they are currently unable to speculate on a release date or even an “approximate year.”
