Never forget CSGO. Sure, we’re all excited about Counter-Strike 2, but with the next version of Valve’s FPS game coming out this summer, there’s still plenty of time for show and weirdness in Global Offensive. In CS2’s limited test, a lot of people were experimenting with Counter-Strike’s new smoke grenades, but one CSGO player brought a normally harmless device to a natural death while pulling off one of the weirdest CS deaths ever.
Everything starts. The terrorist team shows up at Mirage. Our protagonist goes from his gun to a smoke bomb. Presumably they throw it onto rooftops to protect the rest of the advancing team. Normal things.
In the meantime, however, something of a butterfly effect is occurring, a series of inexplicable events from chaos theory. One of the counter-terrorists is hit by an AWP and his health has been reduced to a minimum. Instead of retreating, they add to the pressure by standing at one of the ground floor windows and shooting at the terrorists. In all probability they know they are about to die, they just didn’t expect it to be so.
A small ambitious smoke grenade flies out of the window, ricocheting off the ceiling and hitting the counter-terrorist in the head. It might not sound like a big deal, but hitting a smoke grenade in CSGO reduces exactly one HP. Nearly killed by the AWP blast, the counter-terrorist falls to the ground, killed by a blow to the head from a small ricocheting smoke bomb. You can check it all out via YouTuber ohnePixel below:
You may think that’s not an option – a CSGO player brave enough to stay in the fight after getting an AWP deserves a more heroic death. But look at it this way: Of all the millions of players who have been taken down in CSGO, this one, the counter-terrorist who was hit in the head with a smoke bomb, will be remembered forever.
Take a look at all the changes to the smokes in Counter-Strike 2 that will hopefully maintain their lethality. We’re also interested in how Counter-Strike 2 is better in hindsight, and of course we hope Counter-Strike 2 release date details will be released sooner rather than later.
