Shinji Mikami is one of those game creators, no matter what they’re working on, I’ll always be interested. The creator and director of the first Resident Evil Mikami also made Dino Crisis, The Evil Within, and of course RE4 in 2005. Mikami has a pretty solid pedigree in horror games, that’s what I mean: I trust this guy. And so he officially finished playing Resident Evil 4 Remake and gave his opinion. What does the teacher do with the student?
Mikami started playing RE4 Remake on April 5, about two weeks after launch. Closing out the survival game on April 18, the master of horror, whose credits also include Killer7, Viewtiful Joe, and Hi-Fi Rush, delivered the official verdict on Resident Evil 4.
“RE4 has been successfully cleaned,” says Mikami. “I loved it”.
That’s all. It’s not much, but the fact that the Resident Evil creator and director of the iconic original Resident Evil 4 is enjoying the remake should warm the hearts of RE fans. It’s definitely a badge of honor and a mark of quality for RE4 Remake, which we also praised in our own review.
As for what Mikami is working on next, it’s still unclear. In February, Mikami officially left Tango Gameworks, the studio he founded and which developed The Evil Within, Ghostwire Tokyo, and Hi-Fi Rush.
While there hasn’t been any official announcement for Mikami’s next project Grasshopper Manufacture, the studio he previously collaborated with for Killer7 and Shadows of the Damned is currently teasing an announcement on June 9. Maybe Mikami will be involved?
